DAVIS CORNER VOLUNTEER RESCUE SQUAD AT A GLANCE
The City of Virginia Beach has the largest volunteer-based EMS system in the nation. Its ten volunteer rescue squads responded to a combined total of 46,072 EMS calls for assistance in 2020.
Originally organized in 1943 as a volunteer fire department, we are chartered in the Commonwealth of Virginia as Davis Corner Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc. We no longer have volunteer firefighters and are generally referred to as Davis Corner Rescue Squad or Rescue 2. Serving primarily the Town Center, Haygood, Aragona, Lake Smith, Thoroughgood, and Wesleyan areas of Virginia Beach, our ambulances respond to calls throughout the largest city in Virginia.
With the help of public donations, the City of Virginia Beach, grants and our volunteer members, we provide emergency medical care at NO COST to the patient!
"Some people spend their whole lives wondering if they made a difference - some don't have that problem."
